My Priorities for Swain County

Good county government isn’t just about today—it’s about looking over the next hill. We need to make smart, informed decisions that protect our mountain way of life while creating opportunities for the next generation.

Good government starts by earning trust.

Folks don’t trust government. I understand that. County government should operate in the open, be accountable, and responsive to the people it serves.

I’ll foster trust by:

  • Establishing clear conflict-of-interest standards that protect public trust in financial decisions.

  • Promoting transparency and accountability.

  • Encouraging meaningful public involvement.

  • Making decisions based on facts, not politics or insider’s influence.

Fiscal Responsibility

Every Tax Dollar Matters

It’s your money. And you expect county government to manage your money wisely, fairly, and transparently. I will use my business and government experience to bring proven best-practices to Swain County government.

My priorities include:

  • Responsible budgeting and long-term financial planning.

  • Protecting taxpayer dollars through careful oversight and accountability.

  • Improving purchasing practices to ensure fairness, transparency, and value.

  • Modernizing human resource management with clear, consistent, and professional policies.

  • Planning and building cost-effective infrastructure and services.

Swain County Economy

Economic Opportunity

Creating opportunities close to home.

A strong local economy provides good jobs, supports local businesses, and gives our children and grandchildren the opportunity to build successful lives without leaving the community they love.

My economic vision includes:

  • Support local businesses and put tourism dollars to work for local needs.

  • Diversify our economy by attracting clean industry and entrepreneurs.

  • Strengthen agri-tourism and the local food movement.

  • Grow our outdoor recreation economy by promoting, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and paddling.

Swain County should be a place families can afford.

Housing affordability affects young families, seniors, teachers, first responders, and the local workforce. We need thoughtful solutions that increase housing opportunities while protecting the character of our communities.

I’ll collaborate with State and Federal Legislators for:

  • Expanding workforce housing opportunities.

  • Grants and partnerships.
